"The Bomb"

1987, huile sur toile, (130 x 97 cm)

Clashes, destructions, an apocalyptical surrounding, such is «  the Bomb » which, unfortunately, still reveals an up-to-date topic. It approaches the universality of the self-destroying Man.

Blast-attempt, a wide-spread term in our society : from Corsica to Irak and the Middle East, not to cite other countries...Territorial conflicts, benefit conflicts, ethnic conflicts whose motives are never directly linked with Man himself but with the powers he wants to impose all the time.

The character on the painting  seems to go forward in order to conquer a territory, his turned-up saw reminds us of a factory with its  staircase roof, the devil’s fork gives a mystical look. The three  motives for Violence are present in this painting.

A blind, histerical ,destructive violence that too many torturers of all kinds use to accomplish their  lowest instincts, the  finality of their actions being an obscure pretext.

Which justification can be given to the deaths of Jewish children on buses in Jerusalem and those of Palestinian children in their village streets ?

Let us improve Life instead of destroying it.Let us hold out our hands instead of cutting off  the others’ hands.  Let us remove weapons from our planet and our minds.

A territory is only a dotted line on a map, the real one being the planet Earth.

Profit must be balanced with Conscience. Peace imposes a redistribution of riches in order to reduce the social inequalities and relieve the weakest people in our society.

The feeling of being part of this world is a cheer symbol of a huge chain that links us to our ancestors : about our origins with the creation of elaborate mixtures and  with a philosophical ground which makes us trust in our Future.

Each religion is a piece of a cracked mirror and  must stop  believing it is the whole mirror.
